Three different sizes will be available in a material which is durable, resource-saving and easy to clean.

Playmobil has used its own plastics expertise to launch the first reusable Playmobil Nose and Mouth Mask. The mask can be ordered by consumers via the company’s online shop; Playmobil says the risk of infecting other people with a droplet infection can be reduced by wearing this mask.

After initially supplying its employees worldwide with masks, the mask is now to be offered for sale via the Playmobil UK webshop. It is available in three sizes, Large – Medium – Small, as well as in different colours.

The mask will initially be offered for £4.99, with £1 from the sale of each mask going to support charities helping with the fight against Covid-19.

To meet the high demand, production of the masks has been running at full speed. In record time, new injection moulds were built, based upon the complex mould design for this item. With medical masks and PPE stocks in high demand, the Playmobil Nose and Mouth Mask can make a positive contribution to protecting stocks of these products for keyworkers and those most in need, according to the company.

Important notes on use

The wearer should insert a fresh filter element into the mask before each use. Various absorbent materials can be used as filters; 10 handkerchiefs are enclosed with the mask and provide material for 40 filters. The mask must not be used without a filter and, for hygienic reasons, always only when cleaned. When putting on the mask, the user should make sure that the nose and mouth are completely covered. The mask is held in place by a rubber band so that it cannot slip out of place. Even when wearing the mask, all hygiene regulations, such as a safety distance of at least two metres from other people, must be observed. After 10 hours at most, the mask should be thoroughly cleaned with hot water and cleaning detergen, and the filter element removed before cleaning.

An Independent Product Review.

As a lifelong fan of Playmobil ever since my grandma brought my sister and me to the zoo for Christmas in 1986, I was curious to see that my favourite toy brand now also offers Covid-19 face masks.

I liked the smiley Playmobil face imprinted on the front of the masks and ordered three – one in each available size.

The first thing I noticed on searching for the right size for my family of two (myself and my son aged 6) was that each mask size only comes in one colour:
S is orange, M is grey, and L is blue, although more recently they have also started making a black version.

So, unfortunately, my favourite colour wasn’t available in my size, and for a child who doesn’t like orange, that might be an issue.

My size, the grey mask in M, looks a bit austere – almost military or medical, not as much fun as the other two colours – and much more boring than our homemade cotton masks!

However, what I found lacking in their aesthetic, the Playmobil masks made up for in their functionality.

Each mask comes with a standard pack of tissues as replaceable filters and very simple instructions on how to cut them to size.

Before you don your mask, all you have to do is tie the thin elastic strap to both sides of the mask, remove the front cover, put in a small tissue square, and click the cover on again.
So easy, a preschooler can do it!

The masks are comfortable in three important ways :
Since the elastic strap is adjustable and goes behind your head and not around your ears, they’re more comfortable to wear than masks with ear straps.
They’re much easier to breathe through than homemade cotton masks The soft rubber material sits comfortably on your face without scratching or chafing.

I also found the masks easy to clean, by simply putting them into the dishwasher.
Overall, I’m pleased with my purchase, and the price of €4,99 is hard to beat. €1 from your expense even goes to the German Red Cross Corona relief fund.

The delivery was super quick, and they don’t require complex assembly or ears of steel.

Prima di ogni utilizzo è necessario quindi inserire un filtro composto da diversi materiali come ad esempio un fazzoletto di carta piegato in quattro. Non è consigliato l’uso della maschera senza il filtro.

Prima di indossare la maschera, che comunque dovrebbe essere personale, è consigliata la pulizia e la disinfezione. In ogni caso è sempre consigliabile rispettare le norme previste dal distanziamento sociale: mantenere la distanza tra individui di almeno 1 metro e mezzo, lavarsi frequentemente le mani ed evitare di toccare occhi, naso e bocca.

Pulizia della maschera: si consiglia di utilizzare la maschera per un massimo di 8-10 ore e di procedere con la pulizia tramite acqua calda e sapone dopo aver rimosso il filtro prima di un nuovo utilizzo.

La maschera è riutilizzabile e quindi è un prodotto sostenibile e a basso consumo di risorse. Il filtro (ad es. un fazzoletto di carta) deve essere smaltito dopo l’uso.

Quando si indossa la maschera assicurarsi che il naso e la bocca siano completamente coperti. Fessure d’aria più piccole nella zona delle guance non interferiscono con la funzionalità e forniscono all’utilizzatore un ricircolo d’aria. Il pericolo di infezione è significativamente ridotto dall’elemento filtrante nel boccaglio. Con l’aiuto dell’elastico in dotazione è possibile un adattamento individuale alla rispettiva forma del viso. L’elastico fisso impedisce lo scivolamento durante movimenti rapidi. Si raccomanda di tenere la maschera in un luogo asciutto e pulito e di non conservarla in un contenitore chiuso.

Rispetto alle maschere usa e getta e ai modelli in tessuto, il vantaggio della maschera naso-bocca è che può essere riutilizzata, evitando così uno spreco di risorse e materiali. Grazie all’utilizzo di un filtro in un boccaglio speciale, la maschera PLAYMOBIL può essere utilizzata praticamente in qualsiasi momento – senza lunghi tempi di asciugatura. È un prodotto di lunga durata che non mostra quasi nessun segno di usura. Mentre le maschere in tessuto devono essere lavate regolarmente, la maschera naso-bocca PLAYMOBIL può essere facilmente pulita con acqua calda e sapone. A seconda del materiale, le maschere in tessuto possono anche inumidirsi molto nella zona della bocca dopo 3-4 ore a causa del respiro. L’uso del materiale plastico limita anche l’applicazione di prodotti disinfettanti che potrebbero essere pericolosamente inalati.

7. Per chi è adatta la maschera Naso Bocca PLAYMOBIL?
Questa maschera è pensata per tutti ma il modello scelto dovrebbe adattarsi alle dimensioni della propria testa. La maschera naso-bocca è stata inizialmente sviluppata per tutti i dipendenti, quindi persone adulte, con una prima taglia L (colore turchese). Poiché questo modello potrebbe essere troppo grande per alcune persone, Playmobil ha prontamente avviato la produzione della maschera in altre dimensioni. In seguito all’elevato numero di richieste, la maschera è ora disponibile anche nella taglia S (colore arancione) e nella taglia M (colore grigio chiaro). From employees offer to product innovation – The PLAYMOBIL Nose-Mouth Mask

The Corona Virus pandemic has kept the world in suspense for months. The danger of infection is great – the virus does not stop at any factory gate. At the end of March, a team from PLAYMOBIL therefore asked itself what the company could do with its expertise in plastics production to reduce the risk of infection for its employees. Since masks have been in absolute short supply for quite some time, the idea was born to produce such an article itself.

No sooner said than done. In only 10 days the reusable “”nose-mouth mask”” was developed – and brought from prototype to production. Since then, the face mask has become an integral part of the numerous hygiene and safety measures with which PLAYMOBIL now makes working in the workplace possible. The reusable face mask for adults has proven to be very effective.

First inquiries for the face mask were coming soon. With the worldwide demand still great politicians continue to discuss how far a general mask requirement must go in order to slow down the spread of the virus. Against this background, PLAYMOBIL decided to go into serial production with the reusable face mask and to offer it to all interested people.

In record time, further injection moulds for the complex mould design of this article were created. Since the first announcement of this product innovation, PLAYMOBIL has received many inquiries and orders. For this purpose the wearer inserts a fresh filter element into the mask before each use. Various absorbent materials can be used as filters – for example, a standard paper tissue. The mask must not be used without a filter. For reasons of hygiene, a mask may only ever be used when it is clean and may only be used by one person. When putting on the mask, make sure that the nose and mouth are completely covered. An elastic band is used to keep it in place so that it does not slip, even with rapid movements (see Figure). All hygiene regulations, such as a safety distance of at least 2 metres to other people, must be observed when wearing the mask.

Cleaning: The mask should be thoroughly cleaned with hot water and detergent after 10 hours at the latest. The filter element should be removed before cleaning. Remember to always insert a new filter element.
