Kalitta Air is flying the Boeing 747-446(BCF) – registration N744CK – with a surgical mask painted on its nose. It is the first US-based carrier with an aircraft donning a mask to support the fight against COVID-19. Given the mix of scheduled and charter services flown by Kalitta, this aircraft is visiting a large number of airports around the world.
The aircraft was acquired by Kalitta Air in December 6th 2010 and was previously flown by JAL (Japan Air Lines) as JA8909 as a passenger aircraft, before being converted to a freighter for JAL Cargo, and then given to Kalitta air.
