While all of these things are an impact to my family, that is not why I am getting the vaccine.\u00a0<strong>My\u00a0<em>why<\/em>\u00a0is for the front-line workers in our COVID units, ICU\u2019s and ED\u2019s<\/strong>.\u00a0As I round in these units I see how scared, tired and stressed our team members are as they care for those suffering with this horrible virus<strong>.\u00a0I can help put this pandemic behind us by getting my family to vaccinate and speaking about the importance to others. I believe this is the best path to ending this horrible disease.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/asproposito.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-9.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-716\" srcset=\"https:\/\/asproposito.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-9.png 300w, https:\/\/asproposito.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-9-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stacy Kelly, MSN RN CNML, Director ED\/CDU\/ICU\/PCU\/Telemetry, Bethesda North\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<strong>I chose to receive the vaccine because I felt I had a duty and obligation to the community, our patients and most importantly, myself for my family.<\/strong>&nbsp;Every day as I round on my units, I see nurses, PCA\u2019s, providers and other workers in the healthcare industry committing to caring for our patients and having the courage to do so knowing we are at an even higher risk of exposure. I continue to read about the increase in cases and death tolls related to the virus and a lot of people have not been able to be with or touch their loved ones for quite some time.&nbsp;<strong>The virus had kept me away from my mother for nearly a year and I know there are countless others who are experiencing the same limitations and long to be with their loved ones.<\/strong>Many of us have unfortunately lost a loved one to the virus or know someone close to us who has experienced a loss as well. So, when the vaccine became available and I was asked by Terri Hanlon-Bremer if I would consider being one of the first to be vaccinated, I jumped at the chance!
